This blog would serve as a form of update to the rest of the world who would like to see the progress of this event (which would run all the way to July), and this blog would mainly be updated by Lester (me), Jonathan and Kerry, the rest of the SC would be making short appearances I suppose, but its mainly the three of us for now. Feel free to leave comments and suggestions, we’ll be reading, and for all you know, you could be a part of this event.
The first entry didn’t serve much as an introduction to what is now termed as ‘Black Lights’, it used to be called ‘Fun Night’, but truthfully speaking, that night was not all that fun anyway, we lost focal point and we tried to accomplish too much with too little time. Apparently it flopped like there was no tomorrow, hell; it failed so bad that it was… Well, you get the idea. Anyway, this year’s spiritual successor to last year’s Fun Night will be known as Black Lights; now, before anyone of you start commenting that it’s a lame assed name, do note that we have put in quite some thought into the name, and it blends in quite well with the general idea of the whole event and it makes publicity (or propaganda, like how we like to term it) much sleeker. Trust me on this, Black Lights, however lame it might seem to you on paper is kickass once it’s applied and executed.
Moving on, we had the first meeting today, we pretty much drew the skeletal outline of what you can expect from this event, and I would say it’s much better than last year’s fluke. We have finalized our goals and our focal points, so at least now the crowd and people wouldn’t be spread out too thin. As of speaking right now, we’re talking about a rock band/dance/sing competition cum concert, we don’t know how well it would work, but then again, its still being outlined and it has only been the first meeting, so I suppose the next meeting would flesh out everything that we have. We split our SC into different committees, namely Logistics and Propaganda (pretty sweet name for ‘publicity’), with Yee Chuin and Kerry respectively at helm. To add on onto today’s meeting, Jonathan was having an argument with the rest of the council on the would-be stage layout (more on that once we have more than skeletal outlines), and he still wouldn’t let it rest, but I have more or less agreed to having his plans as a back up in case we screw it up (which wouldn’t happen).
To move on, unlike last year, Black Lights would be an island-wide event, we are trying to get as much people as possible, selling tickets this time, in a nutshell; the propaganda com is going to have one hell of a time getting people over. Just imagine every secondary school student talking about this event; sure, it’s ambitious, but if we pull it off, it’s going to be pretty sweet if you ask me.
It’s going to be big, I know it.
